A Day in the New Year

2013

This time last night we were on the verge of a NEW YEAR here in the USA, while other parts of the world had already begun their New Year with much hope and tons of aspirations full of all the joys and excitements with laughter, family, friends, & certainly fireworks of somesort!
Today was probably filled with the traditions of doing their shopping – eating – or whatever IF anything at all.

Here Mom, Dad & I ate Greens and Black-Eyed Peas! – a Southern thing in the south of the USA!

At least that was after the events of this morning …

*** I am certain it is not what this young 18-20 year old male thought would happen to him. !!! ***

WRECK ~~~ Just outside my house.  A little more and he could jhave hit my BIG oak tree or My HOUSE ~~~ so he ended uup hitting one of my palm trees ?!? and ripping off one of his tires … flattened another,  two windows smashed and the passenger side … BAD! .. and the driver side as well as the passenger side .. tore up on the running boards .. and underneath.

THANKFUL that the Young man was not hurt. … at least he said not … but EMT’s did check him out … but he was sooooooooo scared.  As you know, I told him that no one knows his body like he does and anything feels ‘off’ to go to ER… because it cpould come later.

I am just so GLAD that it was not worse … and I know he was glad I stopped yelling at him.

I know for fact – (yes I know – I’m not police … did not see – but I heard & I know this street and how the YOUNG drive it) that he was … as we say ‘flying’…….

I just hope it taught him a valuable lesson and that others might have learned from it too!

I will keep him in my thoughts.

OH ~~~ he also was worried because he only had ID – Not Drivers License … It was his
AUNTS SUV ~ and she stated she had No Insurance. …. So it could have been so much worse.

Now the pictures will show a little – but I’ll tell you ~ It scared the Whits out of ME!!!~~~

Make your New Year a Safe & Happy one ~ 2013~!!!

Talk about forgetful~?~!

I know they say with age memory can go and yes – I’m there and have been for awhile… but what is really bad is forgetting when you log into your blog site on WP it has a different theme.??

Oh ~ that’s right I did mention before that I might change it – but to forget it!?  Yes I’ve lost a little more today than what I would like to admit.

I suppose shopping for a new car (as mine is 16+ years old) will do that to you.

But I think … and I say that lightly – that I might have found one I like.  Not NEW mind you ~ but a newer one that I will feel will take care of things if I might need to do to take care of my Mom & Dad…. (with the little things of mine in there too) … Some of you might know that I have terminal cancer – but within the last 3 years my Dad now has cancer also ..(and in 2008 he had open heart).. was fine until this last year when things have begun to be a little harder for him… and I want to be prepared in the event he will need assistance walking or actually using a wheel chair.  His legs are getting the better of him now … and might have come to the conclusion that he ‘just might’ need a ‘wheelchair’~! But we will cross that bridge if and when we (Mom & I) need too.  There is just the Three (3) of us here… as I lost (Mom & Dad – Sons) both brothers & the rest of Dad’s family has passed & Mom’s in another state.

Of course there are some cousins – Nephews & Neices … but they have their own family to attend to.

So back to the car … my current car is 1996 Mercury Sable ~ I am the second owner with about 56,000 miles – original~! The one I’ve got my   EYES  on is a Toyota Highlander – the Sport 2008 …. looks like Champage color ..but the dealers call it Gold … either way … very nice!

Now if I can get them to take a little bit more down in price after all it is ToyotaThon~So wish me luck … oh … Dad is buying it as a gift and will not have anything else to say about it … but still I will watch $ cost.

Mother is so very tired taking care of Daddy & Daddy is frustrated that he cannot do the things he has always done. Such a very active man … all his life.  Dad is 87 & Mom is 84 … So blessed to still have them in my life.

Dad’s Cancer is Melemona (skin) which went into the Lymph nodes on the left last September.

My Cancer is Multiple Myeloma — mine is Back … but I’m ok.

Mother is the strength that keeps us together … she just needs to breathe and rest.

Maybe with two of her sisters coming mid month – that will help.

So be blessed with those who are around you & in your life.

I’m so very thankful.

REMEMBER I AM STILL ENTITLED TO MY OPOINION FOR NOW.!!!

Words from Me

Well – I’ve got a lot of reading of post to catch up on … but I will get around to it…hopefully soon.

Today marked a milestone for me — ONE YEAR — Not smoking!  I could not be more proud.  Had tried before and never worked – glad this time was a charm … while it was hard, well worth it!

Turned 60 back in February! Yea! I guess.!! Well at least I’m here.

My Cancer is back – but that is OK … My DAD’S cancer is back and that is the one that I’m most worried about.  He will be in a research test study – beginning soon … and I pray that that  will take all the cancer away.  He will be 87 in April 0 and Mom will be 84 in April.

When I found out in December that my cancer was back *( we did not know about dad’s yet)* I started wanting to get health in order (and try before I turned 60) that when it came time for treatment I would know what I would be dealing with!  Well good intentions – right – when Dad picked me up from the Eye Doctor on January 5th and heading home (less then 1/4 mile) someone ran a stop sign and hit us – on driver side – daddy – but OK…..Then on February 4th – just before my Birthday …. went to store (Winn Dixie) … picked up a few things and proceded to LOCK my keys in the trunk!  Called Dad to please bring set of spare keys … and while waiting for him, I FELL and broke my RIGHT wrist in two places . at the wrist and into the thumb!  Still trying to recover from this!  Then March 6th is when we found that Dad cancer back.  I’m still trying to keep things together.

Over the Holidays (or December and into January) – Mothers Sister(s) throught state and one stayed with Mom for awhile – we had fun with them (her) … (remember I live across from my parents) .. One sister pased through … going on a cruise and brought the other sister for a visit…both Mom & that Sister got sick!  Mom’s brother came via his plane a took sister back to NC … then she was able to cone back again … this time Mom and She were NOT SICK!

Then My Dad’s Sister – his only sibling left – died of Cancer… on January 11th.

So — that is just a short re-cap of what I’ve been trying to do and why I’ve not been writing or responding – in December – wanted a break to get things in order with my health … and well as you can see I’m still working on it.

This is hoping that all of you are doing better and having a great 1st quarter of this new year.

I beg .. for prayers .. and hope to be Up & Running again here soon….

UNTIL then … HUGS!

Giving Thanks on Black Friday

While out with Mom & Dad yesterday – BLACK Friday – while so many were in the mist of thier shopping …. Mom – Dad & I cannot get in the hurry crowds as Daddy cannot walk that well and Mother is slow (age) – so we went shopping (I needed a new watch and went to Stein Mart for one – but nothing found I like…) so we ended up at an Antiuqe shop that I was grateful was open. The Antique Market –  A GREAT  place for various antiques.   It ended up being better than trying to ‘grab’ as so many do during these times….Spending time with them (even though Dad fins a chair and does some sitting) …it was a great day  And one I am grateful I had with them.  So below (which I cropped)

This was on a platter and It is so fitting for the times that probably so many do not think about or don’t know about or just totally forget….something that should be second natue alll year long.

I’m do thankful and grateful that I still have my Mom & Dad when I know so many do not…but as blessings should be everyday, we (including me) do not always convey those feelings of love and being grateful.  So this is just my little way to let them know (even though they probably will never see this) …just how much I appreciate and love them.

This is A Way to Remember September 11th – 10 Years

September 11, 2011 – When America and the American way was Attacked!

The Twin Towers, The Field, The Pentagon

With the Memorial years in the making – lets show our way of celebrating their lives for us.

What would be nice to do for the upcoming (just around the corner) for the Ten (10) Years that changed all of our lives in some way or another …. It is something that I will never forget … and I know that there are so many more that will not forget either.  AND that does not include any of the family members and their friends of those lost.

That was a Day of BLACK! September 11, 2001

I would like to start something … to show that all of those within the Social Media and beyond come together to let the families know we will NEVER Forget.

Everyone has a T- shirt or Shirt — THAT is WHITE!

Let’s turn the Day of BLACK into the DAY OF WHITE….

EVERYONE wear WHITE SHIRTS on September 11, 2011 …. the TEN Years We Have Not Forgotten & Will Never Forget!

Wear them the days of
September 9th … 10th & 11th …

Friday is a WORK DAY – so maybe the OFFICE you work will
do something!

Saturday is usually a FUN DAY – Family & Friends Plans!

Sunday is the Day it turned BLACK and WE WILL turn it WHITE!

Friday – Saturday – Sunday the days to start healing

Can we start this going around and see where it ends.

I will never see the actual memorial but it would be wonderful to see thos white shirts

showing the WORLD we did NOT Forget … Remember there were not just Americans

who were lost that day … It was a day that the AMERICAN peopel came together

and we can do this again in a positive way!

Wear White to show the LOVE we have & the LOVE we all lost that Day!

I would like to know why THIS President thinks it is OK to have any type of official ‘whatever’ And NOT have the AMERICAN FLAG(S) bebind him!!!

HE is suppose to be the Commander of this OUR Country!

WE ARE AMERICAN   &   THAT IS OUR  FLAG!

Why does someone not do something about this!

boss

The boss wondered why one of his employees was absent but had not phoned in sick. So he dialed the employee‘s home phone number and was greeted with a child‘s whisper.

Hello ? ‘

‘Is your daddy home?’

Yes, he’s out in the garden ,’ whispered the small voice. ‘

May I talk with him?’

The child whispered, No .’ ;

So the boss asked, ‘Well, is your Mommy there?’

Yes, she’s out in the garden too

& The boss asked; ‘May I talk with her?’

Again the small voice whispered, No .’

Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the boss asked, ‘Is anybody else there?’

Yes.’ whispered the child, A policeman. ‘

Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee’s home, the boss asked, ‘Well, may I speak with the policeman?’

No, he’s busy. ‘ whispered the child.

‘Busy doing what?’

Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the police dog men.

Growing more worried as he heard a loud noise in the background, the boss asked, ‘What is that noise?’

It’s a helicopter. answered the whispering voice.

‘What is going on there?’ demanded the boss, now truly worried.

The search team just landed a helicopter.

‘A search team?’ said the boss. ‘What are they searching for?’

Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle, Me!

Happy Mothers Day

 MY Mother

my MOTHER

Is gentle and kind.
She’s warm and helpful
and my best friend.

It took me awhile to
realize, you see,
Just how much I mean to her,
and her to me.
No one can replace her,
or fill the shoes she wears.

She calls me her
“Little Girl”,
but that’s ok;
There’s no better way to show
how she cares.
We’ve been shopping, riding or
having a ‘cocktail’ coffee break,
So many miles now separate;
we must dream of yesterdays.
She worries about me
as most mothers do;
So far away it’s hard to
express or convey
How much I Love her:
Today and Always.

EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 40

Potato cultivars
Image via Wikipedia

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.

Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags.

Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.(I’m at this level.)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

Prayers for My Dad – Mom & Me

Daddy had the Cardiologists Doctor appt Wednesday July 23 and of course Mom & I went.
The Dr. is Ben Olliff who has been Mom & Dad’s doc for years.  (was a general doc then cardo). Anyway…GLAD that Mom & I went because Dad I don’t think understood everything he was telling
him.
From everything I heard the blockages are 40 – 70 – 60 & 90 … Now, that may be different
from what he Cath Doc said … but still VERY serious.  Daddy did not understand that they will
need to do a replacement on the MAIN one the Aorta .. and at least two by-passes. But with the
blockages mentioned … there might be more.  It will be a very difficult time for Mother and ME….what will we do?

So Dr Olliff – took us to his scheduling Nurse .. she mae the call to the Surgeons office – a Dr. Wingard )I think that is correct?) and made appt for the 19th of August … Now…just imagine what
my face looked like to Dr Olliff’s Nurse!>? … Like you’ve Got – to – be – kidding?!… then she said that
Dr Wingard nurse said the Doc was On Vacation .. and would be back on Monday (Tomorrow) the 29 of July .. and she would put the information in front of him (because Dr. Olliff’s Nurse faxed the reports over) and would see what Dr Wingard thought thought on Monday!

So tomorrow – Monday – July 28th is the day when Mom & I hope that the Doc will call and get
things rolling.   The sooner the better.  Daddy you know hates to sit and do nothing so just these few
days doing nothing is wearing on him.  Even though he is not talking about it .. you can certainly see
it in is face and eyes.

Daddy is also having a very hard time walking.  His legs especially his right does not want to hold
up at all … and I think that could be a problem.

A Nurse neighbor – asked if they had given him the stress test – I told her no – (that he probably would not make it through that) … and she also wanted to know if he had had a doppler … which he has had about 4 months ago.  (that reminds me … while we were with Dr Olliff’s scheduling nurse on the phone with the surgeons nurse .. THEY wanted to know why this was not done at the time
when he was in the hospital for the cath ???  Mom & I ha no answer … and Daddy none either –
so we don’t know if they even mentioned it to daddy at the time)

I also hear Dr Olliff mention in the exam room when he was telling us all this .. (to daddy he was talking) that he had put it off for 6 months) … Mother did not hear it .. and Dad made no comment – which he probably did not hear!

So with all of this said – I hope you can understand how serious it really is .. I’m so scared…but
cannot let him know because I do not want him getting upset .. that would do him NO good!
So positive thoughts … Lots of prayers …

Deborah

Do You Like ~ Spaghetti!

SPAGHETTI… …

A wealthy man was having an affair with an Italian woman for several
years. One night, during one of their rendezvous, she confided in
him that she was pregnant. Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his
marriage, he would pay her a large sum of money, if she would go to
Italy to secretly have the child.
If she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would also provide
child support until the child turned 18.

She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born. To
keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card, and
write “Spaghetti” on the back. He would then arrange for child
support payments to begin.

One day, about 9 months later, he came home to his confused wife.
His wife said, “Honey, you received a very strange post card today.”

“Oh, just give it to me and I’ll explain it,” he said. The wife
handed him the card, and watched as her husband read the card,
turned white and collapsed.

On the card was written: “Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti. Two with
meatballs, one without! Request bread…
